The "DENSO YOUTH for EARTH Action : New Earthings Project" is an international work study and training program begun with the intention of fostering youths who posses a high level of awareness regarding our coexistence with the environment and who are actively working to create a sustainable society. As an initial program, the environmental studies program open for 25 undergraduate and graduate students from Japan and the six ASEAN countries of Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Singapore.

DENSO To Hold Third International Educational Program
 
KARIYA (Japan) - DENSO Corporation will hold its third international education program called "DENSO  YOUTH for EARTH Action : New Earthlings Project" (DYEA) in Japan from October 6 - 19, 2010. DENSO's DYEA program, which is co-sponsored by the Japan Environmental Education Forum, encourages young people to become actively involved in creating a sustainable society with a broad insight that encompasses diverse viewpoints. 

This year, the program will have approximately 25 undergraduate and graduate students from six ASEAN countries -Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Singapore - and Japan.

Students will participate in an on-site program, which will be held at Mount Fuji in Shizuoka Prefecture, Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture and sites in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Based on what they learn, the participants will formulate an action plan for attaining a sustainable society and present their ideas at a forum in Aichi, Japan on Dec 11, 2010.

The second program, which was implemented last year, included 25 undergraduate and graduate students from ASEAN countries and Japan. Participants engaged in on-site programs in Japan and developed action plans to attain a sustainable society based upon their experiences. Three of the best plans were selected and announced at a forum held in Aichi Prefecture. The three announcements included :

1) Researching and conducting activities to protect kabaragoya that live in the university campus;
2) Giving lectures to high school students on climate change; and
3) Holding eco-movie competition that includes movie creation workshops, ecological seminars.

Currently, all participants are working to implement their action plans.
